Austin Meets Mom

When two worlds collide strange things happen.  Colliding is what happen when the star of Austin (I love this city) and my mom met on 6thStreet.  A few weeks ago she was visiting and these pictures were taken with the most famous Austinite – Leslie.

For those not familiar with Austin and its culture – Leslie is sort of an Austin icon.  Leslie is a homeless cross-dresser!  Many consider him to be the epitome of the Keep Austin Weird campaign, as demonstrated by his two time run for mayor.  Leslie hangs out around 6th Street, this picture was taken around 6th and Trinity during the Pecan Street Festival.

I guess you wonder why I would post these pictures (besides embarrassing my mother)?  To illustrate how much Austin needs Jesus.  Also, to cause you to pray harder for our city.  We are loving the people like Jesus (and as you can see my mother) would – we want to turn their hearts toward Him.

Please keep us in your pryers.

Payback can get really UGLY!!! And you can count on me getting you back son! Did you forget that I have a box full of pictures of You…”Christopher Shannon”? Ones with Glasses???? And some with NO CLOTHES???

But I’ll walk in love, and forgiveness! :) Just don’t invite me to any Pastor’s appreciation day events cause I’ll bring out the amonition!!! HA

Seriously? I liked the point you made. We must “Love Like Jesus Loves”. Austin, Searcy, Washington, the United States, the whole world needs to see Jesus thru us. Feel his unconditional love to come to him, just as they are.

I pray that Austin will turn their hearts to Jesus! And know his unbelievable GRACE….and his UNCONDITIONAL love!!

Eeee-gads….that picture shocked me! But every town has its Leslie, I found a guy who sits on the street with his dog by his side, and his cat sleeps on top of his dog, and his rat sleeps on top of the cat sleeping on the dog.

I love your Mom unconditionally and she feels the same way about me. There have been times over the last 4 years I have found this world so difficult to tolerate, with the parents starving their children to death and beating them to death as have been the case here in the Denver area. However, the Lord lets me know that those precious children are with Him and that I, being one of His children that He will give me strength and love for others, and has me here for His purpose. When I look in the eyes of my precious grand children or hear them laugh, I see and hear God!
    Love you Chris!
In prayer daily for you and your blessed family! (including your crazy Mom!)
